Managing Partner

For over a quarter-century CutTime Productions has been at the forefront of demystifying classical music for non-traditional audiences. With collaborations ranging from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra to convening community based ensembles around the region, CutTime is a hybrid in its truest form.  We are tour organizers, music publishers, club event hosts, and missionaries who open hearts and minds for the love of instrumental, classical music.  We are leading symphonic music into the entertainment ecosystem.

Organizationally, we are in a period of growth, also in the hybrid space of charitable, commercial and social enterprises.  We bring in earned income, encourage paid sponsorships and also cultivate and secure corporate, foundation and funding from individuals and cultural impact investors.  We are deeply inspired and inspiring, and want to take our prototypes to broaden audiences locally and regionally. Are you the right person to take us on our next crescendo? Read the full job description at CutTime_Productions_Managing_Partner_job_description.pdf

Booking Agents

We are seeking friendly booking agents, to work mostly from home, contacting concert presenters around the region and country to engage our very unique service products. CutTime® spun off a major orchestra recently to perform symphonic music as small ensembles in concert halls, as well as in clubs and cafes to engage and educate new audiences like no other ensemble. Some experience of classical music is helpful but not required. We would meet initially once a week in person (Detroit) or by Skype. If successful, there is a possibility for full-time and advancement. Pay is negotiable both hourly and by commission.

Good speaking skills, email skills, spelling skills and comprehension are required (accents are welcome), as well as some experience negotiating contracts. You will learn tour routing, classical music, club music production, concert booking, club booking, conference networking, non-profit fundraising, brand management, marketing materials and negotiating strategies.

You would be expected to call or email 10-20 hours per week (paid), train with us in-person (Detroit area) or on Skype 2 hours per week (paid), and occasionally attend networking events with us (paid).

The Next Mz./Mr. CutTime

We are looking for a strong, well-spoken, humorous musical leader in strings to become the next Artistic Director of CutTime Productions as the founder steps back. Such a musician will be experienced in standard symphonic and chamber music repertoire, and what makes them really POP. Candidates must be natural at hosting concerts and events that are dedicated to adapting symphonic music (both incrementally and not) to the needs, levels and edu-tainment of very broad audiences as well as veteran concertgoers, finding common cultural ground to expand the pallet of possibilities between formal presentations and dance parties. This exciting, inclusive and complementary service was founded to work both charitably, commercially, as well as like a non-profit, our three pillars of revenue.

Candidates would ideally need to be working within 5 hours of Detroit, such as Cleveland, Chicago, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Columbus or Indianapolis. Beginning in 2023, however, we can move to you if you are deeply ingrained in the scene. Candidates will need to lead the small ensembles throughout, sometimes cue in the audience while playing their instrument, and sometimes to conduct large ensembles.

Final candidates will be trained in CutTime theory of mind, public speaking, Finale arranging and in new paradigms in the classical arts. Candidates need not compose music, but good writing and networking skills are essential.
