Today the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation announced CutTime Productions is one of 56 recipients of an Arts Challenge Detroit grant. By spending $2.1 million dollars, endorsing matching contributions from local corporations, foundations and donors, Knight Foundation is DOUBLING its investment in the city’s community with arts. We hope local philanthropists are ready to capitulate. We are pleasantly shocked they would choose to support so many projects. But on further reflection it makes perfect sense. This city’s chief industry AFTER cars is culture. Culture will DRIVE our rebound!
CutTime’s Knight Foundation project will expand and upgrade the ongoing Classical Revolution Detroit series from 10 community events annually to at least 36 during the project year which begins soon after we raise the matching funds. With ceremonies tomorrow and Tuesday, then a working session for new grantees, we look forward to meeting our new partners in community-building. This blog will serve as a record of both achievements and failures from which others can learn and build.
Here is CutTime’s press release.

Life is short when it’s rich. Let’s get going!
